Erin’s Journey with Yoga

Erin uses her training in yoga, her knowledge in aerial dance, and her creative degree to help people feel into their bodies again. Instead of searching for what the body should look like, think about what the body can do! There is an internal language that your body is trying to speak to you, like a friend rather than something to be conquered, which is so often ignored in favor of the mind.

Erin started yoga through her training as an actor. Unlike many in her field, Erin did not grow up as an athlete or anywhere near movement. When learning about movement as an acting major in college, she learned what it meant to begin connecting with your body through the goal of performance. In the end, Erin found that she simply wanted to keep connecting with her body no matter the goal! After all, she was far from flexible, barely worked out, and wanted to explore movement from a place of curiosity rather than “fitness” or appearance.

In 2022, Erin began taking aerial dance classes through a free course in college. She fell in love with the challenge: the way the mind could turn off in order to find the body in space. She began specializing in trapeze and Lyra, learning how to find safety in the body while in the air. There is a trust that starts to grow in the body the more you explore. Most importantly, you start to tune into your own boundaries and the language of your body. Aerial training has informed much of her teaching style and helping her students find what is safe in their bodies.

Erin’s mission is to share her journey of body acceptance through ability, feeling into your internal map. The body becomes a tool rather than a villain, quieting the mind through the focus of asanas. The journey inward is the most sacred rebellion.

Since receiving her yoga certification from Yoga Soup, Erin now lives in Chicago near her family. She has 200 hours of yoga training with specialization in asana flows. She welcomes students of all levels and backgrounds, always excited to introduce someone to their next journey. She received her training from Yoga Soup in sunny Santa Barbara, along with a BFA in Acting that centered around movement and yoga. As for aerial training, she trained with Aeriform in LA, Seventh Dimension in Santa Barbara, and Actors Gymnasium in Chicago.

Currently, Erin shares yoga in UFC Gym in Wrigleyville, ASNA Studio in Lincolnwood, and in corporate spaces through Health Fitness.
